DIY Gingerbread- House

Hi lovelies!
Omg it's only one more days until Christmas Eve! Are you in Christmas mood?
This year December was stressful for me so I couldn't enjoy Advent season as much as a normally do but on Sunday I finally had some time and I took the chance to make a gingerbread house (✿◠‿◠)

It is completely made from scratch. I didn't use any instructions. I even did the measurements and stuff myself. It turned out a bit crooked but that's its personal charm (・ェ-)

The recipe I used:
250g cane sugar
3 tablespoons honey
3 eggs
gingerbread spices
345 g flour
baking soda

The pieces: I drew them on paper and cut them out with a knife. You will need two rectangles with a triangle on top, two rectangles for the sides and two rectangles (in my case squares) for the roof. I also cut out smaller pieces for decoration.

Measurements:

Keep in mind that the gingerbread extends when you bake it in the oven. One of my pieces extended more than the other so I had to cut it a bit in the end (=ω=;)

The icing: Milk + powdered sugar. Just use very few milk and add sugar until the mixture is viscous. A bit like honey.

Putting together and decorating: I don't have any work in progress picture here as it was quite messy work. Just decorate it with any candy you like and make it your own. The whole decorating took me about two hours.

Well and that's it! ヽ(๏∀๏ )ノ
Will you make one?
Tell me in the comments!

DIY: Decorated Cloth Hangers

With napkin decoupage it's super easy to spice up old wooden cloth hangers. To follow the tutorial you will need:

✧ Cloth hanger of choice
(I heard the technique also works on plastics but I haven't tried it myself yet)
✧ Napkin glue
alternative you can use a paste and glue mixture but I didn't have at home either of it
✧ Napkins with motive of choice
✧ Paintbrush

Before you start you maybe want to paint your hangers white to make the outcome more vivid and opaque.

Here you can see the difference. The wooden background can also be a nice effect but it wasn't what I was aiming for this time.

When your cloth hangers are painted and dried pick your napkin and cut out the parts you want on your hanger.
Only the very top layer of the napkin is needed so remove the others.

Lay the napkin on the hanger.

And put glue on it. The napkin will be very delicate so be gentle and only brush in one direction. Moreover, don't touch the napkin right after you applied the glue, it will become smeary!

Work along the whole cloth hanger. For the backside it's easiest to let the frontside dry and then turn it around.

And you are done (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Different napkins can create different kind of effects:

Stripes are hard to work with (°ロ°)☝ For beginners I would recommend a pattern that isn't geometrical.

The flowery one on the top is my favourite. Reminds me very much on shabby chic furniture (*◕‿◕*)

I hope you found this tutorial useful!

DIY: Upcycling Shoes

For my golden outfit which will be worn to Hellocon Tea Party I of course need golden shoes. At the beginning I though I simply go to buy a pair but then I come across this tutorial on how to dye shoes. I owned this pair of black shoes which are good quality but I didn't really wear because..well they are black and I hardly wear black..so I went to the shop and bought a golden spray colour and gave the thing a try. Here is my result:

I'm super-satisfied with the outcome
The bows are leftovers from another pair of shoes I bought in a wrong size. I kept them because 'who knows one day they might be useful..' I simply glued them onto the shoes.
I'm sorry I don't really have progress pictures but if you follow the linked tutorial you are on a save way.
One thing I have to state however, the spray colour stinks enormously. I had to keep the shoes on the balcony for about a week till the smell went away :[ Maybe it depends on the brand of colour though ~

If you have further questions about the tutorial just leave a comment.
I 'm excited to see the shoes in action soon :D
